Basile blasts South Cameron 42-7

BASILE -- The Basile Bearcats evened their overall record to 3-3 on the season with a 42-7 pasting of the South Cameron Tarpons here Friday night.
With the win, Basile is now 2-1 in District 4-1A and will travel to long time rival Elton Thursday night to square off against the Indians.
Ashford tacked on another touchdown from three yards out in the first quarter, and with the extra points from Jacob Guillory, Basile held a 14-0 lead early in the game.
The Bearcats would add another touchdown in the second quarter when David broke free for a 68-yard scoring run. With the Guillory kick, Basile had extended their lead to 21-0 heading into the locker room.
A 25-yard pass from Ashford to Jaylen Thomas extended the Basile lead to 28-0 in the third quarter.
After Ashford sprinted to a 15-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, South Cameron was finally able to put up points on the board when Ty Trosclair pounded the pigskin in from three yards out. Those two scores made it 35-7 in favor of Basile.
The final points of the game came on a the ensuing kick off when Simon Ceasar raced 75-yards for the touchdown and the 42-7 lead.
