Cajuns and Rebels square off Saturday at the Tigue

For the first time in school history, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette baseball team will host a NCAA Super Regional. The Cajuns (57-8) will host the Ole Miss Rebels (43-18), the winner of the Oxford Regional.
ULL dropped the first game in an unprecedented upset to Jackson St. The Cajuns had to rebound from there and run the gauntlet to keep off elimination. That battle meant having to defeat Mississippi State twice. After winning 13-8 and 5-3, ULL punched their ticket and will now host a super regional.
The Cajuns and Rebels collide Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Tigue Moore Stadium in Lafayette. The second game of the best of three series is set for Sunday at 8 p.m. There is an “if necessary” game set for Monday, however, the time is yet to be determined.
ULL is just three wins shy of the NCAA record for wins in a 56-game season, which was implemented in 1992. Florida State hold the record with 60 wins in 2002.
Tickets for the Super Regional will go on sale today at 10 a.m. for the general public.
On a side note, this also marks the first year in school history, both the softball and baseball teams host a super regional. Mens’ Basketball also went to the NCAA Tournament and the ULL Football team won their third straight bowl game.
