LSU, UL-L advance to Super Regionals Friday

Louisiana will be well represented in the Super Regional round of the NCAA Division I softball championships this coming weekend, as perennial powerhouses LSU and UL-Lafayette moved on with regional championships this past weekend.
LSU, the number 10 seed, used every aspect of the game to go undefeated in their region. The Lady Tigers cruised to a 10-2 opening game win over out matched LIU-Brooklyn.
LSU then went on to take a hard earned 4-1 win over interstate rival McNeese State.
In the regional final, the Lady Tigers took care of Arizona St. in a 2-0 pitching duel win.
LSU will face off agains the number seven seed James Madison beginning this Friday at 2 p.m. Eastern time.
UL-Lafayette proved why they are one of the top offensive schools in the nation, as they plated nine runs in every game of their regional.
The Lady Cajuns began the regional title run by dismissing Boston University 9-5. UL-L then proceeded to destroy Texas 9-1 in game two.
The championship game was a toe-to-toe nine inning battle against Texas A&M. The two teams combined for 29 hits in a 9-8 Lady Cajun win.
UL-L will face number three Oklahoma on Friday. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
