Heritage Manor News: December events

(Editor’s Note: The following article was submitted by Patricia Duplechin, resident activity director at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ville Platte. This column runs every Sunday in The Gazette.)
December is upon us once again. It is by far the busiest month of the year. Many people cringe at the thought of yet another Christmas shopping trip. We are bound and determined to make this month joyous for all of our residents and staff alike. We encourage family members to come and decorate the door of their loved one’s room. We will be giving prizes to two of the best decorated doors. Our valued volunteers, club members, students, organizations and church members really come through for us each year and we are very grateful to each and every individual that can find it in their heart to share Christmas cheer with us. The activity department staff works hard to assure that each resident receives at least one gift for Christmas. Our dietary department has lots of extra work put upon their already hectic days, but they always come through for us each year, and for this, we commend them.
Our first of many parties will be held Saturday, December 5, with pizza and boudin from members of VFW Post #3803. This organization is very dedicated to everyone here and looks forward to this party each year.
Other activities this week include resident council meeting, bean bag toss, manicures, group exercise, penny ante, ice cream party, mass, snack toss, rosary, in-room visits and Come Lord Jesus group.
The staff of Heritage Manor wishes a Happy Birthday this week to Bessie Chapman, Doritha Ardoin and Roger Edwards.
The staff of Heritage Manor welcomes Charlotte Ardoin to the facility.
