Heritage Manor News: January events announced

(Editor’s Note: The following article was submitted by Patricia Duplechin, resident activity director at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ville Platte. This column runs every Sunday in The Gazette.)
Hip, hip hooray! We survived yet another year of great times and many events. All activity departments of nursing homes will slow down a bit and enjoy the new year to come. We don’t know what 2016 has in store for us, but we are really looking forward to it. Now that all of the Christmas decorations are gone, it seems so bare. So, on to new ideas, adventures and new people, not to mention, we are anticipating the move into the new facility, hopefully by the end of 2016. January events include Martin Luther King Jr. birthday celebration, Silver Eagle social, VFW barbecue, resident birthday party and Activities Professionals Week.
Congratulations to the Employee of the Month for January, Justice Edwards, and Resident of the Month, Sue Guillory. Edwards is a CNA and has been employed with Heritage Manor for two years. She is kind and compassionate to all residents and staff. Guillory has been a resident at the facility for 13 years and she is very involved in all group activities.
The meal of the month for January chosen by the residents at the monthly resident council meeting will be served on the third Thursday of the month. The meal chosen will be hen, sausage and tasso gumbo, rice, crackers, baked sweet potatoes, coconut cake and strawberry soda.
The staff of Heritage Manor welcomes Eldridge Vidrine to the facility.
The staff of Heritage Manor sends get-well wishes to Bobby Sylvester.
Many thanks to Elizabeth Fontenot and all of her granddaughters for sharing their time and talent with the residents.
