Heritage Manor News: National Actvities Professionals Week

National Activity Professionals Week is sponsored by the National Association of Activity Professionals. This week was created to give honor and recognition to those dedicated individuals who contribute so significantly to residents’ quality of life. This year, Activities Professionals Week will be held January 17-23. As an activity director for almost 20 years, I have seen many changes in residents being placed in long-term care facilities, met hundreds of people and have adapted to many culture changes, as well as worked in different environments. As a whole, we strive to keep everyone happy, active and motivated to continue to be involved in the community. All of the planning, organizing and hands on projects are worth its weight in gold to see how truly happy our residents are. We salute all of the activity staff for choosing this profession, keep up the good work.
Activities this week include Bible study with Thomas Toler, manicures, group exercise, Come Lord Jesus group, pokeno, bingo sponsored by the Ville Platte Rotary Club, jingo, music, mass and in-room visits.
The meal of the month for January will be stuffed smoked pounce, rice and gravy, baked sweet potatoes, cabbage with vinegar, apple pie and Coke.
The activity staff welcomes new volunteers and looks forward to meeting new people on a regular basis.
