Heritage Manor News: Nursing Home Week fun

(Editor’s Note: The following article was submitted by Patricia Duplechin, resident activity director at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ville Platte. This column runs every Sunday in The Gazette.)
Many thanks to all that participated in dressing out, donated items or cooked for the staff and residents for Nursing Home Week. The Mother’s Day celebration was fun and Shirley Copeland was honored as the Most Active Mother. She received a plaque and t-shirt. She is the mother of two and has two grandchildren. She is very active in the facility and outside with the community. Thanks to Acadian Ambulance for the barbecue burgers and VFW Post #3803 and Father Richard Vidrine for the monthly barbecue chicken meal. Father Vidrine donated the meal in memory of his parents Morris and Nazel Vidrine, who were once residents at Heritage Manor. Prizes were given throughout the week to the staff for participating in the dress out days to entertain the residents.
Congratulations to the Resident and Employee of the Month for May. Warren Fontenot was chosen as Resident of the Month and Shakelia Moton was chosen as Employee of the Month.
The staff of Heritage Manor wishes a Happy Birthday this week to Bernadine Jack. Many thanks to all who brought delicious cakes for the resident birthday party on May 11.
The birthday party for the dementia unit will be held Tuesday, May 17, in the dementia unit dining room. Family and friends are encouraged to attend.
The staff of Heritage Manor sends get-well wishes to Doritha Ardoin, Steven Fontenot, Clanney Fontenot and Florence Ardoin.
Activities this week include Come Lord Jesus group, exercise, in-room visits, pokeno, Olympic games practice, manicures, bingo sponsored by the Catholic Daughters, mass and music by T-Rob Soileau.
