Heritage Manor News: Picnic in the park

(Editor’s Note: The following article was submitted by Patricia Duplechin, resident activity director at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ville Platte. This column runs every Sunday in The Gazette.)
What’s more fun to enjoy in the spring than going to the park for a great time and good food? It’s picnic time in the park for us this week. Our residents look forward to this cookout each year at this time. They get to enjoy the outdoors, experience nature and have the opportunity of visiting with old friends that join us. The residents of Savoy Care Center join our crowd and share a fun time reminiscing. We thank our administrator and cooks for making this annual event possible. We look forward to future outings as well.
This week’s other activities include manicures, in-room visits, exercise, pokeno, Come Lord Jesus group, service by Community Prayer Line, bible study, social reading, mass and bingo sponsored by the Ville Platte Rotary Club.
The staff of Heritage Manor welcomes Gertrude Soileau to the facility.
The staff of Heritage Manor sends get-well wishes to our loved ones in the hospital, Nazario Hernandez, Melvin Fontenot and Sandra Richard.
Congratulations to all high school classes for 2016 graduation from all of us.
We thank Herbert Gallow and all the supporters for their generous donation to our residents and the time they put in for a domino tournament. The residents will reap the benefits of the great community leaders in charge.
We are gearing up for May, which is right around the corner. May holds lots of events that everyone is anticipating, such as Mother’s Day and Nursing Home Week. Senior Day is also held in May, and this annual outing is one of the residents’ favorites.
