'Crowley Night at the Rice' a success

CROWLEY – Anyone wondering to know how last Saturday’s initial “Crowley Night at the Rice” variety show went need do nothing more than look at the excitement on Barry Premeaux’s face.

“For first show we couldn’t have asked for a better turnout,” said Premeaux, the show’s master of ceremony. “I had people coming up to me all night telling me what a great time they had.”

Of course, having quality entertainment helped out quite a bit.

“All the performers were great,” he said. “Our musical acts were wonderful, Caleb Simon’s magic act was incredible, and the comedian Murray Conque - he just brought down the house.”

When talking about next month’s show, which will take place on June 21st, Premeaux’s enthusiasm was evident.

“We have more great acts lined up for next month,” he said. “I don’t want to spoil too much but I can tell you we have a fantastic Elvis impersonator who will be joining us.”

One aspect of the Night at the Rice that seems to have caught on quite well with the public is the family atmosphere of the event.

“Our show is definitely suitable for the entire family,” said Premeaux. “We look forward to seeing more people next month.”

“One thing about doing the first show is that it makes you really want to top it,” he said.
