JUANITA B. LAFLEUR

February 27, 1930 - May 8, 2008

Funeral services were held for Juanita B. Lafleur, 78, of Ville Platte, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 10. Burial followed in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

Ms. Lafleur died at 11:31 a.m., Thursday, May 8, 2008, at The Guardian House in Lake Charles. She was a former elementary school teacher and beautician.

Survivors include one son, Dwain J. Lafleur and his wife, Rose, of Ville Platte; one daughter, Nazy Sue Fontenot and her husband, Hal, of Lake Charles; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lafleur Jr.

Father Josh Guillory officiated.

EARL H. DUPLECHAIN

November 30, 1933 - May 4, 2008

MAMOU - Funeral services were held for Earl H. Duplechain, 74, of Mamou, at the Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Mamou at 1 p.m., Friday, May 9. Burial followed in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery.

A farmer, Mr. Duplechain died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was the vice-president of Auster Oil and Gas.

Survivors include his former wife, Elwyn Manuel Duplechain of Mamou; one daughter, Vanessa Duplechain Ducote of Mamou; two sisters, Frankie Bertrand of Mamou and Jewel Duplechain of Lake Charles; and three grandchildren, Darren Earl Ducote, Heidi Elizabeth Ducote and Kristen Fuselier.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Christine Duplechain; one granddaughter, Ashley Lauren “Bebe” Ducote; and one grandson, Gabriel Luke Ducote.

Brother Ervin Goodman officiated.

JONATHAN CRAIG CLOUD

MAMOU - Funeral services were held for Jonathan Craig Cloud, 52, of Mamou, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 10. Burial followed in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery.

Mr. Cloud died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Lafayette General Medical Center. He was a good son, uncle, brother and friend who was known for his humor and practical jokes. He was an avid hunter.

Survivors include his mother, Helen Fontenot Cloud of Mamou; two sisters, Lisa Fontenot of Bryan, Texas, and Freida Cloud of Mamou; and one brother, David Cloud of Mamou.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Cloud.

Father Pius Vallooran officiated.
