Erica Desiree King

TURKEY CREEK - Funeral services were held for Erica Desiree King, 16, of Lake Cove, at the Lake Cove Baptist Church at 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 16. Burial followed in the McCormick Cemetery in Turkey Creek.

Miss King died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou. She loved all her classmates and friends. She enjoyed talking on the phone, texting, Facebook and hanging out with friends and family. During her two-year battle with cancer, she stayed upbeat and courageous. She never lost her sense of humor.

Survivors include her father, Luke King of Lake Cove; her mother, Lacie King of Biloxi, Mississippi; one brother, Haiden King of Lake Cove; two sisters, Jada King of Patterson and Alyssa Malone of Biloxi, Mississippi; her paternal grandmother, Patsy King of Lake Cove; her maternal grandparents, Ricky Henley and his wife, Janice, of Missouri and Connie Henley of Oklahoma; three aunts, Gretna Bloodsworth and her husband, Rocky, of Pitkin, Rita Deville and her husband, Shane, of Turkey Creek and Christy Henley of Arkansas; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Murphy Nolan King.

Revs. Ervin Goodman and Cody King officiated.
