There is an old saying that cotton is the fabric of our lives. This is none truer than for Ville Platte resident Lynn Landreneau, who has compiled the rich history of the Louisiana Cotton Festival into two volumes of work.

Sixty-three young ladies have worn the title of Queen Cotton during the time of the Louisiana Cotton Festival. For the latest of which, the title is a dream come true.

For Joyce Latigue, finding out her 22-year-old daughter had breast cancer completely changed her life. The diagnosis is one that has now also changed the life of other locals who have suffered from cancer and those still suffering today.

In terms of rivalries, Mamou and Pine Prairie have only been at it for as long as the Panthers have fielded a football team. Despite that, the two schools have brought that rivalry to high, albeit friendly, level over the past 10 years.
