Heritage Manor News: Have healthier air with healthy houseplants

Having healthy houseplants can help reduce the amount of pollen, dust mites, airborne molds and other household allergins you may have in your home. Plants breathe in bad dirty air and trap those pollutants within their structure. They then exhale oxygen-rich air.

Houseplants also rid the air of harmful organic compounds, such as formaldlehyde, benzene and ammonia. Plants also help keep the humidity at a proper level. This is very important in keeping allergies at bay.

Any kind of house plant will clean the air, but the following work the best: bamboo palm, rubber plant, peace lily, corn plants, English ivy and Boston ferns.

The VVA sponsored its monthly bingo game Monday, May 12. Big winners were Lucille Guillory, Ruby Fontenot, Betty Jack, Alcide Ortego and Mary Fontenot.

The VFW Ladies Auxiliary sponsored its monthly bingo game Wednesday, May 14. Ollie Bright was the volunteer. Big winners were Laura Ortego, Ruby Fontenot, Verlin Berzas, Adele Thibodeaux, Carolyn Stampley, Theresa Chapman, Florence Manuel, Sue Guillory, Alcide Ortego and John Chambers.

Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church sponsored a bingo game Thursday, May 15. Big winners were Carlton Soileau and Mary Fontenot.
