Despite bye, No. 4 Bearcats not sitting idle over off week

By: Lance Reed

Basile, the fourth seed in Class 1A, earned a bye and will not get into playoff action until next week. The 10-0 squad will most likely face Plain Dealing again, a team that gave them a tough time last year. Just like Deja vu, Basile is poised to meet the same two teams they did last season. If they meet and defeat Plain Dealing, they would face Kentwood, the fifth seed, in the quarter-finals.
“The kids are very excited about our chances and they are optimistic. We have had some really good practices this week. ” BHS Head Coach Tony Bertrand said. “They have said time and time again they are ready for anyone. I think we have a good chance all around. We are a different team this year and I think the teams we face are also.”
Bertrand will make the trip north to see Plain Dealing take on Ringgold tomorrow night.
