After delaying the release of the 2017 boy’s basketball bracket due to appeals from member schools, the LHSAA has finally gone public with the playoff picture.
Several area teams found themselves with basketball still to play when the brackets were officially released Tuesday night, as all five boys teams from Evangeline Parish made it to the post-season.
In Class 3A, the Ville Platte High Bulldogs (22-7) received the No. 4 seed and will host the No. 29 seeded Vidalia Vikings (10-16) Friday night.
In other Class 3A action the Pine Prairie Panthers (17-11) used a great end of district run to secure the No. 27 seed.
Pine Prairie will travel on Friday to take on the No. 6 seeded South Beauregard Knights (16-9).
In Class 2A, the Mamou Demons (16-11) earned the No. 8 seed and will begin the playoffs with a home game.
Mamou will host Jeanerette (7-21). The Tigers come in as the No. 25 seed.
Class 1A action will see the No. 26 seeded Basile Bearcats (10-20) travel to Arcadia (15-9) Friday night to take on the Hornets who earned the No. 7 seed in the bracket.
Finally in the Division III playoffs, the No. 23 seeded Sacred Heart (2-21) Trojans will travel to Hammond to battle the No. 10 seeded St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons (10-21).
Make sure to pick up a copy of the Sunday edition of The Ville Platte Gazette for recaps of all the playoff games.
