Mamou hosts #9 Welsh tomorrow night for the 2013 Mamou Homecoming Game. Dylan Duplechain (14) and company seek to pull the upset over the Greyhounds.

Mamou looks to upset ninth-ranked Welsh

Mamou went to DeQuincy and faced a very tough team that handed Mamou their fourth straight loss. Mamou has not won since week two, when they crushed South Cameron. The Green Demons look to change that tomorrow night against the ninth-ranked Welsh Greyhounds.
Welsh is coming off of a 27-17 win over the Vinton Lions. Welsh brings a powerful running game to town on homecoming night. The Hounds, who have a very young and talented coaching staff, are 5-1 on the year. Their only loss of the season came to Vermilion Catholic in week one. Besides that, the Hounds have dominated in every other performance. They are scoring 23 points a game and holding teams to less than a score per game.  The WHS D-unit has pitched a pair of shutouts this year. Those tough defensive performances came against Rosepine and South Beauregard.
Mamou has struggled on both sides of the ball thus far this season, but more so on offense. The lack of production has kept the defense on the field for long periods of time. MHS Head Coach Kevin Manuel and his group of students look to make some big changes.
It’s homecoming this week in Mamou and that could be the shot in the arm the Demons need to pull the upset. Look for Mamou to try and weather the storm early and then go for the win.
