MAMOU -- The Mamou Demons and Lady Demons each came into their games against Vinton with large-scale implications in the outcomes of those game.
Knowing that the district title was out of reach, the Lady Demons were hoping to add to their win total on the year and give themselves a high seed come Sunday when the playoff brackets are announced.
Mamou took care of that in a huge way, as they put a defensive strangle hold on Vinton in a 54-16 drubbing of the Lady Lions.
The Demons, however, had even more at steak in their battle against the Vinton Lions. After defeating Welsh this past Friday night, Mamou needed a win Tuesday night to tie the Greyhounds for the top spot in the district.
And, as good teams usually do, Mamou was able to rise to the occasion and run past Vinton in a convincing 64-46 win.
Here is a re-cap of those two games.

Vinton (G) vs. Mamou
Pressure, pressure and more pressure was the name of the game for the Mamou Lady Demons in their win over Vinton.
The Lady Demons came out with a suffocating defensive game plan and plowed their way to a 22-2 lead as the first quarter ended.
That defensive pressure ramped up even more in the second quarter, as Mamou outscored Vinton 17-1 in the period to lead 39-3 at the half.
The Lady Demons rested their starters most of the second half and cruised to the win.
With the win Mamou improves to 19-9 on the year and 6-3 in district. The Lady Demons will travel to Lake Arthur tonight.

Vinton (B) vs. Mamou
Mamou took an early 14-10 lead after one quarter of play behind Lil’ Paul Williams’ seven first period points.
Williams would add 10 more points in the second quarter, as the Demons extended their advantage to 30-17 going into halftime.
Mamou added 21 more points in the third quarter, while holding the Lions to only 11 points and taking a 51-28 lead after the third quarter had ended.
The Demons held on to that lead down the stretch, despite the fact that Vinton was seven points better in the final quarter.
Mamou is now 13-12 on the season and 6-2 in district play. The Demons will travel to Lake Arthur on tonight and will finish out the year at Kinder on Tuesday.
