Northwest outlasts Pine Prairie
Both Pine Prairie and Northwest High School were 2-5 going into their week eight confrontation. Pine Prairie gave Northwest all they could handle for the first half of the contest, but then the Raiders pulled away with a 42-28 win.
The Panthers went up 7-0 in the first quarter. Dylan Doucet scored on a three-yard run and capped a four-play drive. Ricky Woodruff hit the extra point, making it a total score.
After the Raiders answered back with a score of their own, the Panthers got another seven points. Doucet hit Douglas Fontenot on a 55-yard strike for six points. Woodruff added the extra point and the Panthers were up 14-6.
Northwest fired right back and converted the two-point conversion, giving the Raiders a one-point lead at half time.
Northwest took the momentum with four scores in the second half. Pine would get a rushing touchdown from Doucet and he completed a score to Fontenot in the final quarter.
Doucet ended the night with an amazing 230 yards in the air and was 16 of 28. He also ran for 68 yards.
