The first round of the playoffs were not kind to the Pine Prairie Panthers and the Sacred Heart Trojans Friday night.
Pine Prairie traveled to Longville to take on the South Beauregard Knights in a Class 3A first round playoff game and came away an 87-70 loser.
Sacred Heart was on the road also, traveling to Hammond to face the St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons in the first round of the Division III playoffs. Unfortunately, the Trojans were outmatched as they fell 62-24.
Here is a recap of both of those playoff games.

Pine Prairie vs.
South Beauregard
Pine Praire got 25 points from Darnell Durgin, but still could not overcome a 16-7 advantage by South Beauregard in the second quarter to overtake Knights.
The Panthers fell behind early in the game, as South Beauregard outscored Pine Prairie 24-16 in the first quarter. Then came the 11 point deficit in the second period.
Durgin tried to lead the Panthers back in the third quarter, scoring 13 of his points in the period. But it was not enough, as the Knights kept pace the rest of the game.

Sacred Heart vs.
St. Thomas Aquinas
Coming in as the No. 23 seed, Sacred Heart was hoping to sneak out a win in Hammond over the No. 10 seed St. Thomas Aquinas.
The Falcons did not let the Trojans close enough the entire game to make that happen.
St. Thomas jumped out to a 16-3 lead in the first quarter and led 29-11 at the half.
The third quarter was even more miserable offensively for Sacred Heart, as they could only net three points.
The Falcons finished with a 16-10 advantage in the final quarter.
