KINDER – Coming into the Kinder Tournament this past weekend, the Pine Prairie Lady Panther softball team had only dropped two games out of the first eight played. And, both of those losses came to softball powerhouses Acadiana and North Vermilion.
So, it was imperative that the Lady Panthers continue on that path in order to round up as many power points as necessary for the end of the season.
Knowing this, Pine Prairie proved why they are one of the top teams in the state in Class 3A, as they went 2-1 against some tough competition in the tourney.
The first game did not fair well for the Lady Panthers, as they fell 1-0 to Class 2A perennial playoff contender Rosepine.
But, Pine Prairie made up for it in the next two games, taking down Westlake 4-3 and Kinder 10-4.
Here is a rundown of those two wins.

Pine Prairie vs.
Westlake
Westlake got out on the scoreboard first to start the game, scoring a single run in the top of the first and holding Pine Prairie scoreless. The Lady Panthers tied things up in the bottom of the second.
The Lady Rams moved ahead in the top of the third with another single run. However, the Lady Panthers were able to take the lead when they plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Westlake tied the game up in the top of the seventh, adding another run to the scoreboard. But, Pine Prairie answered in the bottom of the seventh with the winning run.

Pine Prairie vs.
Kinder
Against the Lady Yellow Jackets, Pine Praire posted crooked numbers in three of their seven at-bats, as they cruised to the win.
After holding Kinder scoreless in the first inning, the Lady Panthers put up three unanswered points in the top of the second.
The Lady Jackets closed the gap, scoring two runs in the fourth. But, Pine Prairie was able to extend the lead by tacking on four more runs in the fifth.
Kinder added solo runs in the fifth and seventh innings. However, the Lady Panthers tacked on three more in the last inning to seal the win.
