In must win games Friday night, the Pine Prairie Panthers and Lady Panthers and the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans all took to the road for district contests.
The Lady Panthers needed a big win to stay in the hunt for a shot at a district title, as they were two games out of first place coming into the contest against the Lady Bobcats.
Behind Tori Bordelon’s 23 points, Pine Prairie remained within striking distance of league leader Ville Platte with a 49-43 win over Eunice.
The Panthers were looking for a victory over Eunice to stop a 1-5 slide over the last six games.
Unfortunately, Pine Prairie could not stop the fall, as they took a 68-60 defeat at the hands of the Bobcats.
The Sacred Heart Lady Trojans faced off against the Notre Dame Lady Pios in hopes of a possible share of the District 5-2A title, as Notre Dame held a one game advantage over Sacred Heart coming into the game.
But, it was not to be, as the Lady Trojans fell to the Lady Pios 58-30.
Here is a re-cap of those area games.

Pine Prairie (G) vs. Eunice
The game did not start well for the Lady Panthers, as they fell behind 12-10 at the end of the first quarter.
The Lady Bobcats continued to put pressure on Pine Prairie in the second quarter and went into the locker room with a 24-19 lead.
However, it was the third quarter that spelled the difference in the game, as the Lady Panthers outscored Eunice 18-6 to take a seven point advantage heading into the final period.
Despite the Lady Bobcats outpacing Pine Prairie 13-12 in the fourth quarter, Pine Prairie was able to hold on for the win.
The Lady Panthers are now 13-7 on the year and 5-2 in district play.

Pine Prairie (B)
vs. Eunice
Despite nine points from Pine Prairie’s Darnell Durgin in the first quarter, the Panthers trailed Eunice 15-13 as the horn sounded on the initial period.
Pine Prairie took back the lead going into the locker room by knocking down 14 points to Eunice’s 11 points in the second quarter.
The third stanza fell to the Bobcats, as they outpaced the Panthers 19-15 to take a 45-42 lead into the final quarter.
Eunice put the game away in the fourth quarter with a 23-18 scoring advantage.
Durgin had 26 for the Panthers, while Isaiah Payned chipped in 14.
Pine Prairie drops to 11-12 on the season and 1-4 in district.

Sacred Heart (G)
vs. Notre Dame
The Lady Trojans came out flat in the first quarter, going down 19-3, and could not recover the entire game.
Sacred Heart tried to get back into the game in the second quarter, with an 11-8 scoring advantage over the Lady Pios.
But, the third and fourth quarters were not kind to the Lady Trojans, as Notre Dame outpaced Sacred Heart 31-16 in the second half.
Catherine Poche and Sydney Shiver each had nine points to lead the Lady Trojans.
Sacred Heart falls to 10-12 on the year and 3-2 in district competition.
