Playoff pairings released for girls basketball

Evangeline Parish girls basketball teams found out their playoff fates on Monday.
The LHSAA released its brackets for the high school girls state basketball playoffs, and three of the parish’s five teams will start the postseason at home.
Ville Platte High (25-7) received the No. 4 seed in the Class 3A bracket and will host No. 29 Franklin in the opening round. If the Lady Bulldogs they would face the winner of the No. 20 Jena at No. 13 Wossman game in the second round.
Also in the Class 3A bracket, Pine Prairie (15-8) earned the No. 19 seed and will play at No. 14 Erath in the opening round. That game is scheduled for Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Mamou (19-10) earned a first-round home playoff game as the Lady Demons earned the No. 8 seed in the Class 2A bracket. Mamou will host No. 25 South Plaquemines at 6 p.m. on Thursday. If Mamou wins, they would then face the winner of the No. 24 Springfield at No. 9 Lakeview game.
Sacred Heart (13-12) earned the No. 13 seed in the Division IV bracket and will host No. 20 Ouachita Christian in the opening round at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The winner will play No. 4 Episcopal, who received a bye, in the next round.
Basile (12-16) meanwhile earned the No. 17 seed in the Class 1A brackets and will play at No. 16 Centerville in the first round. Tip is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday.
