SHS baseball drops another; Basile sends several to regionals

rojan baseball team took to the diamond to face off against Opelousas Catholic in a district contest Wednesday afternoon.
This was the third time that the Trojans played the Vikings this season, with the first two resulting in losses for Sacred Heart. That trend continued, as the Trojans fell 15-5 in five innings to Opelousas Catholic.
The Vikings took control of the game early on, scoring eight runs in their first two trips to the plate.
Sacred Heart got on the board in the top of the third, plating two runs of their own. The big hit of the inning came on a double from Brandon Fontenot.
The Vikings added three more in the bottom of the third.
The Trojans finished their scoring in the top of the fourth by adding two more runs, before Opelousas Catholic sealed the game with four runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Sacred Heart is now 18-10 on the year and 0-5 in district play.

Basile High Track
The Basile High boy’s and girl’s track teams recently participated in the District 5-1A meet and were able to qualify several athletes to the regional meet that will be held on Tuesday on the campus of the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
Here are those qualifiers and their results at the district meet.
Rheagan Ortego- 100m (third); 200m (first).
Nedasia Adams- Triple Jump (first).
4x100 Relay- (Jazmine Sias, Carly Bazinet, Rheagan Ortego and Aliyah Sam) (second).
4x200 Relay- (Jazmine Sias, Carly Bazinet, Rheagan Ortego and Aliyah Sam) (second).
Travis Mondares- High Jump (first).
Rashawn Murphy- Triple Jump (first).
4x200 Relay- (ermone Thomas, Rashawn Murphy, Rashad Murphy and Jaylen Thomas) (first).
