A man wanted for attempted first-degree murder who escaped from deputies in February and was caught in Ville Platte three weeks later has escaped again in Opelousas from St. Landry Sheriff’s Office custody and is believed to be on the run to Tennessee.
Theobegi Levier was wanted for attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery in Eunice, stemming from an incident that occurred there on Feburary 7.. He was seen driving a truck by police in Ville Platte, where he was subsequently charged with stealing a vehicle and parole violation.
Levier again escaped last week. He was being transported to Opelousas for a medical appointment. Authorities there are offering a $3,500 reward to anyone who offers information that leads to his arrest.
St. Landry officials say Levier is believed to have been restrained in shackles on the ankles and in handcuffs when he fled on foot after escaping from a St. Landry deputy during his latest escape.
