Lafleur named CDA Daughter of the Year

The Catholic Daughter’s of the Americas Sacred Heart of Jesus Court #1674 marked its 62nd year with the annual anniversary banquet on the evening of Wednesday, February 1, 2017, in the library of Sacred Heart Elementary School.
Regent Barbara Delafosse presided over the event.
After the opening ceremonies of the prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, the recipient of the Catholic Daughter of the Year award, Faye Lafleur, was suprised by the arrival of her husband Warren Lafleur and their extended family. The Regent presented the Catholic Daughter of the Year pen to Lafleur.
Other guests for this occassion were the District Regent, Betty Soileau, of Opelousas, and her guest, Wanda Dupre.
Court members recognized for perfect attendance were Carrie Deville, Belinda Fontenot, Miranda Roberie, Sybil Veillon, Barbara Vidrine and Barbara Delafosse. Members who missed only one meeting were Edna Soileau, Romona Lafleur and Anetta Fontenot.
The regent read a poem about growing old. The Parochial Vicar of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Reverand Taj Glodd, gave the blessing before the banquet.
Door prize winners were: Gloria Vidrine, Rose May, Syblil Veillon, Miranda Roberie, Connie Veillon, Camille Lafleur, Theresa Bertrand, Faye Lafleur, Carrie Deville, Lynn Landreneau, Belinda Fontenot, Aloner Nicks and Mary Ann Vidirine.
On February 9, 2017, the Catholic Daughters hosted a Valentine’s party at Heritage Manor nursing home. The state Catholic Daughter convention will be April 27-30, 2017 in Baton Rouge, and those who plan to attend must let Delafosse know by February 17, 2017. The next monthly meeting will be Wednesday, March 1, 2017.
