Bomb threat evacuates Evangeline Parish Courthouse

A caller reported to police at approximately 11 a.m. that a bomb had been placed in the Evangeline Parish Courthouse and "it was about to go off." The bomb threat led to the evacuation of the courthouse while police blocked the road and the fire department responded. Police are currently searching for the suspect who called in the threat.

UPDATE: The Evangeline Parish Courthouse has been closed for the remainder of the day and will not be open again until Friday morning. District Attorney Trent Brignac stated that calling in a bomb threat carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. He added that his office is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the culprit. Anyone with information that could lead to an arrest is urged to contact district attorney investigators at (337) 363-3438.
