CenturyLink to close Ville Platte store

CenturyLink is looking to close its store in Ville Platte on February 20, but Gervis LaFleur with Evangeline Community Action Agency hopes to stop them.
LaFleur voiced his concern over the closure, noting that many residents of the city pay their bills at the store and that it would create a hardship on them if the store were to close. According to a report obtained by LaFleur from the local store, over 1,200 customers were served by the store in January.
“We don’t want to see this office close,” LaFleur said. “It would be a hardship on our people.”
LaFleur stated he believes there is only one employee working in the office, so he does not believe there will be much in the way of savings for CenturyLink compared to the difficulty it would create for customers in the area.
LaFleur is asking the public to voice their desire to keep the local store open and he and Evangeline Community Action Agency will discuss the closure with state officials in an attempt to keep it running.
