Charges were dismissed Monday against three Ville Platte residents who were charged with Foot Traffic/Reflective Gear.
Cody Mayes, Deonte Williams, and Tevin Wilson were each charged with the offense on August 22, 2017, after being struck by a vehicle in the roadway near the intersection of North Chataignier Street and East Lincoln Road.
According to a release from Ville Platte Chief of Police Neal Lartigue, “the driver remained at the scene and stated that he was blinded by the headlights of an oncoming vehicle.”
The release stated that “the three pedestrians were cited for obstruction of a public passage and no reflective gear.”
The three individuals were set for arraignment in Ville Platte City Court before Honorable Gregory Vidrine on September 25 and were represented by Quincy Cawthorne, who entered a written plea of Not Guilty. Upon entry of the plea, Ville Platte City Prosecutor Guy Mitchell moved to dismiss the charges.
