A 4H Skeet Shoot and Project Expo will be held Saturday, September 30 at the Chauncey Pitre Barn on the Vidrine Road near Ville Platte to help defray expenses for the Evangeline Parish 4H Shooting Sports program.
Evangeline Parish has an active shooting sports program with 187 4Hers from across the parish participating last school session. The shooting sports program includes three disciplines: shotgun, archery, and BB gun. Many of local students have advanced to regional and state shooting competitions.
Registration for the skeet shoot will be at 8 a.m. with a $2 registration fee to be paid at that time. Qualifying will run from 8 to 11 a.m. with the final beginning at 1 p.m.
The categories for competition at the September 30 event are as follows:
$10 shots for 20, all ages. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes will be awarded in each category.
The project portion of the day will include citizenship, leadership, fashion, food and fitness, performing arts, sciene, engineering and technology (SET), 4H Camp, 4H University, project workshops, Jr. Leader Club, educational trips, and Clover Club.
A concessions stand will be available along with a sweet shop, silent auction, and Chicken Drop.
All Evangeline Parish 4Hers and those youth in grades 4 to 12 who are interested in joining 4H are invited to participate. Any Adults and Children can also participate.
The 4H program is also looking for businesses, organizations, and/or individuals to assist in sponsoring this event.
