LSU Christmas tree named best at city hall

Ville Platte Mayor Jennifer Vidrine counted 40 trees on display at city hall, some small table-top trees and some prize winning trees, like the one decorated by LSU alumni and fans.
That won first place among the trees at city hall decorated by school students, alumni or fans. The LSU tree featured an ornament that sounded the LSU Tiger fight song and a football field mat at the base of the tree.
The mayor, an LSU alumni, helped decorate that tree, but the mayor was not one of the judges, who were mayors of other municipalities.
The tree decorated by Ville Platte High School students placed second and the Southern University tree placed third.
