Mamou Mardi Gras schedule

The schedule of events for Mamou’s Mardi Gras celebration was recently released. Events are planned as follows:
Sunday, Jan. 31 - Children’s Mardi Gras run. This event is the Sunday before Mardi Gras week. Applications will put out at all of our schools and the Mamou Police department. All applications and registration fees will be collected the morning of the run. Participants will meet at the White Elephant between 7 a.m. - 8 a.m. Registration fee will be $15 a child and he or she must be in full costume. Riders ages range from 4-15 years old.
Saturday, Feb. 6 - Music performances at the corner of Sixth and Chestnut streets from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Monday, Feb. 8 - Music performances at the traffic light will be provided by Kajun Kraze (5 p.m. - 8 p.m.) and Geno Delafosse (8 p.m. - 11 p.m.) Music performances at the North End include a DJ sponsored by No Limit Trail Riders (6 p.m. - 7 p.m.), Leone Chavis (7 p.m. - 11 p.m.)
Tuesday, Feb. 9 - Music performances at the traffice light will be be provided by Cajun Traditon from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.. The band also will play from 1 p.m. until the riders return. Music performances include a DJ from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and Keith Frank from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
