Woman sexually assaulted in Ville Platte, police searching for suspect

A woman in her late 50s was allegedly raped in her home in the 400 block of Edward “Knot Toe” Thomas Street in Ville Platte early Saturday morning at approximately 4 a.m.
Ville Platte Police Chief Neal Lartigue said the suspect, who remains at large, was described as a black male with a small frame. He apparently had a rag over his head and face and was wearing a white shirt and dark jeans. Anyone who may have seen this suspect in the area is asked to contact the Ville Platte police at (337) 363-1313.
According to Lartigue, the suspect gained entry into the victims home through a window and forced her into a bedroom, where the sexual assault occurred.
The victim was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center for examination.
