Man found dead in ditch

According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, the body of an apparent Homicide victim that was dumped in the Warren Ditch off of Tee Earl Rd. in Southern Vermilion Parish has been recovered, and two arrests have been made.

Sheriff Couvillon said that at approximately 9:30 the Sheriff’s Office received a call in regards to information of a possible homicide. Sheriff’s Patrol Officers, Detectives and Marine Division Officers responded, and ultimately located the body of an unidentified white male who had been shot, and submerged in the Warren Ditch.

Sheriff Couvillon further stated that during the course of the investigation, detectives were able to obtain specific information relating to the crime which has led to the arrest of Brady James Harrington (date of birth 9/20/90 of 9802 Rosewood Road, Kaplan, and Paxton Jules Trahan (dob 6/16/87) also of 9802 Rosewood Rd. Kaplan, both individuals have been arrested and booked into the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center on 2nd Degree Murder with bond set at $250,000 each.

Sheriff Couvillon stated that due to the nature of the crime and the associated threat level, the Sheriff’s Special Response Team and Negotiations Team were utilized to affect the arrest at the residence located 9802 Rosewood rd. Kaplan, where the suspects were believed to be, and successfully took Paxton Trahan into custody without incident, and shortly thereafter the VPSO Intelligence Division obtained information from a concerned citizen of the possible whereabouts of Harrington, and along with Kaplan Police Department located Harrington at a residence within the city limits of Kaplan and also took him into custody without incident.

Finally, Sheriff Couvillon says that the investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests may be forthcoming.

Also the name of the victim will not be released until positive identification is obtained and family members notified.

Sheriff Couvillon applauds the actions of his Investigative Division, Intelligence Division, Patrol Division, Marine Division, Special Response Team, Negotiations Team, and Kaplan Police Department for their discreet professionalism shown during this investigation.
