Assistance requested in moving French immersion teachers to Louisiana

Staff report

Evangeline Parish is starting a French Immersion Program for grades Kindergarten through first at Ville Platte Elementary and Mamou Elementary. CODOFIL has recruited three of these teachers from France and are expected to arrive within the next two weeks. Due to the high cost of moving expenses, part of our responsibility is to help them find housing and get settled in the community.
Please remember they are coming from France with only their luggage. We have found housing which are small one bedroom apartments; however, these apartments are unfurnished. Due to the high cost of furniture (sofas, recliners, and dining chairs), and other household goods such as pots, pans, dishes, etc. We can also accept monetary donations to purchase household items as well.
If you can assist in donating any of these items, we are accepting them at our office in Ville Platte and placing them in storage until they are needed. Our summer office hours are Monday- Thursday 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Donations can be dropped off at any time. If you have any questions, or need items picked up, please call at the number 337-363-0442.
