The Evangeline Parish School Board approved the 2015-16 salary schedule at Wednesday evening’s meeting.
The new salary schedule includes both teachers and support workers for the school board.
The current salary scale was implemented on July 1, 2013. The new scale will take place on July 1 of this year, which begins the new fiscal year.
“When your dealing with 800 employees not everyone will be satisfied with what you do,” EPSB Superintendent Toni Hamlin said. “We have done what we think is best for Evangeline Parish.”
The new plan met with approval by the schools according to Hamlin.
“All 12 schools are in support of the new salary schedule,” Hamlin said.
The components of the new support salary schedule consist of the following: one-time upward level adjustment for all support employees unless rated “ineffective,” annual level adjustments unless rated “ineffective” and merit pay for rating of highly effective.
During Wednesday’s meeting, the board also approved the following: A quote in the amount of $7,632.00 for curtains for the Pine Prairie High School auditorium; a quote for hood and fire suppression system at Mamou High School and a bill to Edgar of America, Inc. for $100,242.00 for student information system for 2015-16.
