Ville Platte receives grant from Keep Louisiana Beautiful

Congratulations! Keep Louisiana Beautiful is pleased to award the City of Ville Platte a Healthy Communities Grant in the amount of $6,250.00.
The Keep Louisiana Beautiful Healthy Communities Grant will provide 10 additional red trash barrels, mounted and installed in highly problematic areas and roadways of our town. The Mayor and City Council support a “cleaner Ville Platte” and encourage citizens to use the conveniently-positioned barrels rather than littering our roadways and neighborhoods. Mayor Jennifer Vidrine’s goal has been and continues to be, “install a red litter barrel in every neighborhood so there will be NO excuses for throwing litter on the ground.”
Upcoming and continuous projects include:
•Community Treasures City-Wide Garage Sales on November 8, for the fall; and a date in the Spring to be announced at a later date. The garage sales will be held at the Main Street Park and citywide.
•Great American Clean-up on November 14. All citizens are asked to make a consciousness effort not to litter our town that day! Let’s not throw trash on our roads, parks and in our neighborhoods. Local schools are encouraged to host a trash bash during canteen recess along with educational programs to combat litter!
•Cleanest City Contest and Garden of the Month in conjunction with The Magnolia Garden Club.
•Enforcement of city ordinance concerning abandoned houses, vehicles, overgrown lots.
Litter abatement through community action is vital to the success of “Cleaning Ville Platte.” Let’s instill a sense of pride in our town and all join together to keep Ville Platte clean and friendly! It only takes one person to make a difference. You can be that person!
