Hanks, Hilda Yarborough
Hilda Yarborough Hanks died on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at St. Helena Parish Nursing Home in Greensburg. She was 79, a native of Liverpool and a resident of Greensburg. She was employed at Bank of Greensburg for 42 years, was a church choir member, and enjoyed her grandchildren.
Visitation and religious services were held at Greensburg United Methodist Church. Services were conducted by Rev. LaMarylis Smith Cotten. Interment was in the Greensburg Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet Hanks Sukkar, Baton Rouge and Sandra Hanks Dykes and her husband, Scott, Kentwood, seven grandchildren, Colin Salim Sukkar, Cameron Lawrence Sukkar, Caroline Alexandria Sukkar, Adam Yarborough Sukkar, Christopher Cody Foster, Rodrick Lawrence Dykes and Scotti Marie Dykes, two sisters, Doris Venable, Zachary, Alyne Campbell and her husband Kirby, Liverpool, a brother, Elbert Yarborough and his wife, Donald, Summit, Miss. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Sitman Hanks, mother, Gussie William Yarborough, and father, Harvey O. Yarborough.
King, Wallace Smith
Wallace Smith King, 84, of Zachary, died on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was an independent businessman who ran a bread delivery service for over 22 years.
Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Friday, January 23, 2009 from 6pm until 8pm, with a 7pm Rosary service, and then on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Zachary from 9:30am until mass at 11:00am, conducted by Father Jeffery M. Bayhi. Burial will be at Azalea Rest Cemetery.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Doris Lemoine King; four daughters: Linda Standinger of Seattle, WA; Amy Jeansonne and her husband Ricky of Walker, LA; Denise Thorp and her husband Lewis of Florence, KY; and Valerie Chisolm and her husband Everett Percy of Texas; three sons: Wallace Glenn King and his wife Linda of Spillman, LA; Charles King of College Station, TX; and Gregory A. King and his wife Karen of Zachary; one sister: Beth Malone of Baton Rouge; two sisters-in-law: Inez King and Velma King, both of Baton Rouge; twenty grandchildren: Robin Grisham, Ryan King, Michael McNabb, Devin King, Emily King, David Saltz, Christy Cast, Willie Saltz, Nelson Saltz, Phillip King, Conrad Standinger, Katie Hehman, Jennifer Walker, Daniel Thorp, Marjorie Thorp, Michelle Chisolm, Mary Chisolm, Millicent King, Hollis King, Gregory King, Sean Gilbert; and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents James Alonzo King and Mary Hodges King; one sister, Rita King Chandler; three brothers: Shyrl King, Stanley King, and Hugh King; two brothers-in-law: Terrell Malone and Lea Chandler.
Pallbearers will be Wallace Glenn King, Charles King, Lonnie King, Everett Percy Chisolm, David Saltz, Ryan King, Devin King, and Willie Saltz. Honorary pallbearers will be Clarence Bueche, Conrad Standinger, Justin Ballatin, Phillip King, Daniel Thorp, Joey Vince, Ricky Jeansonne, Lewis Thorp, Hollis King, Nelson Saltz, and Sean Gilbert.
He was a member of St. John’s Mens’ Club, where he enjoyed cooking breakfast for all of his friends. Friends wishing to may make memorial donations to Hospice Care Services of Louisiana, 5608 Main Street, Zachary, LA 70791.
