Funeral services were held for Daniel Ulysse LaFleur Sr., 67, of Prairieville, at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Baton Rouge at 11 a.m., Friday, October 30. Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 4, at the Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary.
A native of Lafayette, Mr. LaFleur died Saturday, October 24, 2015. Having been raised in south Florida, he loved the ocean and was an avid sailor. He was also a talented carpenter and horticulturalist who shared his skill wherever it was needed, and brought joy to many with his ready smile and open heart. He had a free spirit and constantly sought adventure, and it was these qualities that led him through an interesting life filled with good times, good friends and a multitude of stories to share.
Survivors include his children, Dean LaFleur and his wife, Tessa, Daniel LaFleur Jr. and his special friend, Alice, and Coila LaFleur Esposito and her husband, Dean; grandchildren, Luke and Gillian LaFleur, Maddie Fontenot, Caroline and Andrew Esposito and Ella LaFleur; siblings, Horace A. Wingard, David LaFleur, Stephen LaFleur and his special friend, Marie Brand, Chris LaFleur and his wife, Karen, Jeanette LaFleur Smith and her husband, Ron, and Andrew LaFleur and his wife, Sandy; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Irving LaFleur and Ella Jeanette Phoenix LaFleur.
Visitation will be held today, October 29, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home in Baton Rouge from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, October 30, at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Baton Rouge from 10 a.m. until time of service.
