JASON PAUL FONTENOT

April 1, 1979 - June 17, 2017

VILLE PLATTE - With a heavy heart the family of Jason Paul Fontenot, 38, announces his passing on Saturday June 17, 2017 in Ville Platte.
As per Jason’s wishes he was cremated and a memorial mass will be held July 1, 2017 at 11 AM at our Lady Queen of all Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte.
Jason valiantly fought to overcome his trials, struggles, and loneliness since the age of 15, when he lost his leg and most of his back. He tried very hard and from time to time it appeared that he would be able to overcome it all. Jason became a volunteer fireman in 2006 and won an award for being the 8th top volunteer fire fighter for answering 54 alarms. In 2009 he volunteered to direct traffic after mass at Sacred Heart Church and other things for the community and was awarded the Good Citizen Award. Jason was chosen as the neighborhood watch person in his neighborhood and was always looking out for everyone and helping people in many ways. Even through all of this he had a very hard struggle to overcome the emotional and physical pain he endured for so many years. Jason loved to fish, but most of all he loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. He had a kind loving heart.
Jason will be deeply missed by his family and friends and will always be remembered for his smile, love, and concern that he had for everyone.
Jason is survived by his parents Ted and Brenda Verrette Fontenot of Ville Platte; grandmother Ruth Fontenot of Ville Platte; brother Billy Fontenot and wife Anna of Ville Platte; sister Tiffany F. Perkins and husband Dustin of Opelousas; nieces and nephews Lia, Chase, Kade, Isabelle, and Alex. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Joseph and Anita Verrette, Anthony and Versie Fontenot, Theo Fontenot, great grandparents Frank and Edia Fontenot, Mel and Addison Beauregard and Adam and Alida Verrette.
