Funeral services were held for Joseph Tony Johnson, 54, native of Mamou and resident of Marksville, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 3. Burial followed in the Jules Cemetery.
A loving father, brother, grandfather and friend, Mr. Johnson died Friday, April 1, 2016. An avid outdoorsman, Tony (as he was known by many) loved to hunt and fish.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph Tony Johnson Jr. and his wife, Marie, and Jacob Johnson, all of Mamou; one brother, Jay Fontenot of Eunice; and three sisters, Sheila Johnson and her husband, Shannon, of Ville Platte, Paula Johnson of Lake Charles and Monica Fontenot of Carencro. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his two grandchildren, Kaleb and Jessie Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred James and Ethel Lee Johnson; two daughters, Monica Johnson and Crystal Johnson; one sister, Linda Johnson; one niece, Caitlyn Fontenot; and one great-nephew, Kylen Leday.
Father Tom Voorhies officiated.
