Roger “R.E.” Chaffin

PINE PRAIRIE - Funeral services will be held for Roger “R.E.” Chaffin, 76, of Pine Prairie, at the Rush Funeral Home Chapel in Pine Prairie at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 22. Burial will follow in the St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Mr. Chaffin died Sunday, January 19, 2014, at Resthaven Nursing Home in Lake Charles. He was a long-time deputy with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office. He also was a two-term Justice of the Peace for Pine Prairie.
Survivors include two sons, Luke E. Chaffin and his wife, Jeanne, of Lake Charles and Les E. Chaffin and his wife, Kristin, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; two daughters, Karla Pearson and her husband, Bruce, of Moss Bluff and Kelli Ragle and her husband, Greg, of Longville; three grandchildren, Tye Ragle, Keiryston Ragle and Kaitlyn Chaffin; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Rosalene Chaffin; one granddaughter, Allyson Falcon; his parents, Jesse and Leola Chaffin; one brother, Tommy Chaffin; and one sister, Sylvia Chaffin Veillon.
Friends may call at Rush Funeral Home in Pine Prairie today, January 21, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday, January 22, from 10 a.m. until time of services at 2 p.m.
Rev. Keith Sheridan will officiate.
