OPELOUSAS - Funeral services were held for Terry Lee Fontenot, 72, of Prairie Ronde, at the Sacred Heart Chapel in Prairie Ronde at 1 p.m., Tuesday, December 23. A graveside service was held at the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas at 3 p.m, Tuesday, December 23.
A native of Ville Platte, Mr. Fontenot died Saturday, December 20, 2014, at his residence. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Chapel in Prairie Ronde. He was a veteran of the military, having served in the Vietnam Era and Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a member of the VFW, Disabled American Veterans and a past president of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, the former Linda LaTour of Prairie Ronde; two sons, Guy Fontenot and his wife, Renee, of Port Barre and Douglas G. Fontenot of Ft. Collins, Colorado; two grandchildren, Ian Fontenot and Elizabeth Fontenot; one brother, Rollis Fontenot and his wife, Lois, of Plaisance; and one brother-in-law, Claude Bernard of Ville Platte.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leas Fontenot and the former Estella Richard, both natives of Ville Platte; and two sisters, Bernadine Darbonne and her husband, Milton; and Ronella Bernard.
Melancon Funeral Home of Opelousas was in charge of arrangements.
