Sacred Heart tennis teams do well at regionals

The LHSAA Division IV Class 2A Regional Tennis Tournament was hosted by Sacred Heart High School in late April. The event took place at the Opelousas South City Park.

The Sacred Heart Boy’s team won the title for the fourth consecutive year. The young men have worked hard to establish a dynasty in boy’s tennis in Class 2A.

In boy’s singles, it was Logan Quibodeaux of Opelousas Catholic to take first place. Oakdale’s Heath Barker was the runner-up.

In boy’s doubles, it was Daniel Robin and Alex Sylvester of Sacred Heart on top. The second place tandem of Scott Briley and Alex Ardoin of Opelousas Catholic was the second place team.

Victoria Lamonte of OCHS won the girl’s singles competition. Oakdale High School’s Victoria Welch came out second in her event.

The Welsh High School tandem of Lauren Heinen and Kristina Moore won the girl’s doubles. Local girls Alexandra Davidson and Kimberly Rose placed second for Sacred Heart.

All of the athletes mentioned qualified for the state event. Also qualifying from Sacred Heart was Josh Landreneau, Alex Dupre, Ryan Buller, Erin Deville and Carmen Miller.
