Mamou council discusses upcoming Vet. Day Parade
CROWLEY -- Ever since their big win over Port Barre three weeks ago, the Mamou Demons have not had any luck getting back in the win column this season.
That trend remained, as Mamou was outmanned once again in their 48-0 loss to the Crowley Gents here Friday night.
With the loss, the Demons are now 1-5 on the season and 1-3 in district competition. Mamou will host the Eunice Bobcats this Friday night in another District 5-3A match-up.
In the game, Crowley amassed 332 yards of total offense, with 318 of those yards coming on the ground.
The Demons were more balanced in their offensive production, as they garnered 135 yards on the ground and another 102 yards through the air.
One of the biggest differences in the game was the turnover margarine, as Mamou had three fumbles lost and two interceptions, while the Gents only lost the ball once.
Crowley began their scoring in the first quarter, putting up a total of twelve points. The Gents scored on an Obidiah Butler 64 yard touchdown run and a 91 yard Keith Wilson scoring scamper.
The Gents were able to add 15 more points in the second quarter. This time is was Jairece Lewis banging it in from four yards out and Perry Myles, Jr. picking up a fumble and rumbling across the goal line from 64 yards out that did the damage, putting Crowley up 27-0 before heading into the locker room.
The Gents tacked on another touchdown in the third quarter when Wilson strode in from the Mamou 12-yard line, bringing the score to 34-0.
Crowley added their final points in the fourth quarter on rushing touchdowns from Chris Larousse and Myles, Jr.
Thomas Atkins led all Demons in rushing, gathering up 82 yards on 24 carries. Atkins also threw for 102 yards on six of 15 passing.
