SLCC announces scholarship recipients

LAFAYETTE – More than $30,000 in scholarships was awarded to students at South Louisiana Community College for the current spring semester.
This brings the total of scholarships awarded during the 2015-2016 academic year to more than $115,000 – the largest awarding of scholarships to date.
Through the generosity of companies and individuals in Acadiana, these students will have a portion or nearly all of their education for the spring semester paid.
Scholarships and recipients include:
•Capital One Scholarship – Kayla Huntsberry
•Glenn Armentor Pay-It-Forward Scholarship – Anne Catherine LeBlanc, Bryan Ardoin, Ana Swanson, and Blair Prados
•Social Science Psychology Scholarship – Ana Swanson and Tiffany Huval
•Home Furniture and KATC Scholarship – Quentin Conway, Alaisha Young, Nathan Phillips, and Tiffany Huval
•John Chance Land Surveys, Inc. Scholarship – Bryan Ardoin
•Republic Services Scholarship – Ben Guillory
•Louisiana CAT Scholarship – Ben Guillory and Brian Jenkins
•Progressive Tractor and Implement Scholarship – Brian Jenkins
•Ronald Stokes Memorial Scholarship – Cammie Cooley
Next academic year promises even more growth for SLCC scholarships, both in number of available scholarships and total amount. This includes scholarships from SLCC’s faculty and staff, who designated some of their donations during the SLCC Foundation’s annual Employee Giving Campaign toward scholarship funds.
Scholarships for the 2016-2017 academic year that begins in August will be available March 15. At that time, current students and first-time freshman interested in applying for the scholarships should visit SLCC’s website.
