Ville Platte sweeps Parish Jr. High Track Meet

Basile High School hosted the Evangeline Parish Junior High Track Meet last week. All six schools attended the event at BHS. It was a great turnout and very competitive for the most part.

Ville Platte High swept the event, winning both the boys’ and girls’ competitions.

The young Bulldogs took the boys’ event with a total of 201 points. Javonie Anderson of VPJH was tabbed the Outstanding Field Person with a total of 20 points. Mamou’s Ray Wilson earned the Outstanding Track Person with 23.5 points.

The Basile boys came out second at the event. They grabbed 142 points and Mamou was third with 76 points. Sacred earned the fourth slot with 37 points and Vidrine was fifth with 29 points. Bayou Chicot Elementary earned 17 points.

The VPJH girls took first place with 155 points. Sacred Heart’s Moria Parks earned the Outstanding Field Person with 18 points. Bailey Marcile of Bayou Chicot was tabbed the Outstanding Track Person with 25.5 points.

They were right in front of Bayou Chicot with 143 points. Basile earned third spot with 90 points. Sacred Heart took the fourth place with 59 points and Vidrine was fifth with 48 points. Mamou Junior High scored 19 points.

Congrats go out to all of the Evangeline Parish young athletes who competed in the annual event.
