The 2016 Evangeline Parish basketball tournament schedule has been released and Pine Prairie High School will be the host for this year’s event.
The tournament will begin on Wednesday afternoon when the Basile Lady Bearcats square off against the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans at 3:30 p.m.

VILLE PLATTE - It wasn’t the best of endings for two of the parish hoops teams, as the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans and the Pine Prairie Panthers both fell in the annual Sacred Heart Turkey Tournament finals here Wednesday evening.

EUNICE – The LSU Eunice Lady Bengals picked up their first win of the season with an 80-62 win over Bossier Parish Community College here Saturday. The Lady Bengals used a dominating third period to move out in front of the Cavaliers and improve to 1-3 on the season.

The annual Sacred Heart Turkey Tournament will begin in Monday morning with the first game scheduled to take place at 9:30 a.m. Eight girls teams are slated to appear and include Oakdale, Crowley, Pine Prairie, Montgomery, Oak Hill, Basile, St. Edmund’s and the host team Sacred Heart.

EUNICE - It was a sweet way to open the season for the Mamou High Demon and Lady Demon basketball teams, as they both came away with huge wins over Eunice High here Monday night.
For the Demons, Mack Thomas and Darius Tezeno each poured in 17 points to lead Mamou to a 73-58 win.

VILLE PLATTE - A shaky first half turned into a nine point victory for the Sacred Heart Lady Trojan basketball team here Tuesday night, as they opened their season against the Opelousas High Lady Tigers with a 36-27 win.

The Ville Platte High boys and girls basketball teams will host the first annual Dodge Jeep and Chrysler Bulldog Basketball Tournament beginning this Wednesday.
The tournament will feature some of the toughest competition from around the area.
