The Gallaspy College of Education and Human Development on the campus of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La., has recognized alumni who have shown outstanding professional achievements.

The engagement of Miss Lyndsey Nacole Schexnayder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Maurice Schexnayder of Ville Platte to Mr. Kayne Micheal Hargrave, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell James Hargrave of Maurice, has been announced by their parents.

Pat Derouselle, President of the Louisiana Cotton Festival, was the guest of Rotarian Bill Brunet at Tuesday’s meeting of the Ville Platte Rotary Club.

During its first meeting of September, the club heard from fellow Rotarian and Ville Platte Mayor Jennifer Vidrine. She first congratulated the Sacred Heart Trojans on winning the Tee Cotton Bowl.

New royalty was crowned Saturday, at the Louisiana Tournoi Pageant. The newly crowned queens were Miss Samara Lafleur, Miss Charlie Bieber, and Miss Holly Kay.

Allen Ben is the pastor of Zion Travelers Baptist Church in Mamou and New Zion Baptist Church in Eunice. Ben recently shared about how he continues to be a religious leader and what he does to help out the churches.
