In the Bible, oil was used as a symbol for the Holy Spirit. Just as oil was used for healing, for comfort, for illumination and for anointing for specific purposes, the Holy Spirit also heals, comforts, illuminates and consecrates.

Heritage Manor’s King Preston Ardoin and Queen Bobbie McCauley represented the facility at the recent spring pageant in Arnaudville. They competed against 120 area nursing homes. Although they did not place for a title, everyone had a great time and we are very proud of them.

National Volunteer Week is the official time to recognize and celebrate the efforts of volunteers. The national observance began in 1974 when President Richard Nixon signed an executive order establishing the week as an annual celebration.

When God saw that we were lost and alone and dying without Him, He sent His son into the world so we would have the power to live through Him. In the same way, we need to love others in such a way that we empower them to live.

The story of Jesus didn’t end with His death on the cross. After He died, His body was placed in a tomb. That was on Friday evening. On Sunday morning, some of His followers went to the grave to visit Him.

Happy Easter to all of you from all of us at Heritage Manor! Easter is the most significant day of the Christian faith. The resurrection of Jesus shows that life is stronger than death, love is greater than hate, grace is more powerful than violence and hope is far more potent than hopelessness.

Sunday, March 29, is Palm Sunday. This is the beginning of Holy Week leading up to Easter Sunday. The word holy means set apart, unique or one of a kind. Holy Week for Christians is to be observed as a time that is set apart from all other weeks of the year.

As we journey down this Christian life, we sometimes get discouraged and we have a tendency to want to give up. I am glad to be able to say to you today that God is much more patient with us than we are with ourselves.

There are so many signs of spring in the air. Look outdoors and you will see flowers blooming, trees budding, birds gathering their nesting materials and plenty of good old sunshine. Now that daylight savings time is in effect, we have more daylight hours for outdoor fun activities.
