On Sunday, May 8, Antioch Baptist Church honored Mrs. Missouri Joubert as Mother of the Year 2016. She was selected because of her dedication and faithfulness to the church for 52 years.

During Nursing Home Week in May, members of VFW Post #3803 donated its monthly barbecue meal. Father Richard Vidrine donated the meat in memory of his parents, Morris and Nazel Vidrine.

Shakelia Moton was named Employee of the Month for May at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, and Warren Fontenot was named Resident of the Month. Moton has been employed as a evening shift CNA with the facility for one year. She is the mother of one daughter.
